I never cleaned the filters, or changed them, and still it was a powerful machine for years. I would grab another one up right now if I had not just purchased another brand. I understand the company went out of business, so I may buy one just to have a back up. It was a bit difficult to get used to the attachments at first, but after a while I really liked the way you could pop a button and go from floor to wand.
