To date this system has been blasted by quite a few but my opinion...reasonable expectations required.
For a "home theater in a box" (HTIB) type solution the CineMate certainly sounds better as a 2.1 system than many under $1000 5.1 systems out there. Setup is easy and the sound quality is quite pleasant.
I challenge any critic of this system to compare the build quality and performance of the CineMate bass module to the cheap, poorly built, so-called subwoofers shipping with most HTIBs under $1000...or for most under $500 sub-woofers for that matter (the list price of the CineMate which includes bass module, 2 satellites, amplifier, remote control and cables!).
Rap on most under $1000 HTIB speakers and you'll hear obvious vibrations and resonances from the speaker cabinets. Not so with either the Bose bass module or the satellite speakers. They're well made, heavy and well damped, something that can't be said for most HTIB speakers.

I bought this system to go with my new 1080P Samsung TV. I have been very satisfied with the purchase. I live in a one bedroom condo and didn't want a system with all the wires for all the surrond speakers. Now if you want true surround sound you need a 5.1 system. However, this system sounds much better than 5.1 systems I have heard around the same price range. I have read others saying there is not enough bass and I have to disagree. I can not turn this sytem up more than probably 25% of its capacity because I do not want to disturb my neighbors. There is plenty of bass and you get clean, clear, crisp music the way it should be heard. I do not think you will be dissappointed in this system. Excellent choice, Bose speakers are the best! I am enjoying all my DVDs and CDs !!!!!!!!!! Read more

After becomming obsessed with Pandora and deciding that I needed some sort of home theatre setup anyway, I decided to purchase Samsung's BD-2550P Blue Ray player, which includes Pandora and Netflix. But, apart from the speakers on my Samsung TV, I didn't have any sort of sound system. This set me looking for audio stuff. Wow. A plethora of options, many quite expensive. And, complicated setup and wiring, speakers all over the place. Yikes!

So, I was thrilled when I ran across this CineMate option. No need for a receiver or figuring out which thing connects through and to whatever else, a clean and uncomplicated look. And, I'm already used to Bose sound from using a Sound dock for my iPod, so I'd already stepped away from the very bass-heavy sound that I used to prefer! I wasn't thrilled to have to spend $ 500 for a speaker system, but didn't really want to give up the clarity and quality that I was used to either. Plus, I live in a smallish apartment and wouldn't be able to really uti

In no way is this a home theater system. It's just "add on" speakers and woofer. Hook it up, turn it on, and live with it. Very little bass output from the sub woofer and the two smaller speakers produce far too much treble. No way to adjust any of the outputs. I've got this system connected to a Sony Wega and each time you turn the system on you have to use both remotes to adjust the sound output. On the good side, you can't annoy the neighbors as the output will never be loud enough to bother them.
Don't waste your dollars on this system. If you have to go Bose then spend the extra for the 1-2-3 unit or choose another brand. I replaced a Sony unit with this Bose and I'm sorry I did. Calling this a "Home Theater" is almost false advertising.
If there is a plus side, it's ease of set up and typical Bose fine construction. Read more
