for many years, I put off getting a dishwasher because of the size needed for my kitchen...small. Since I was having my kitchen cabinets redone and being I was just so tired of hand washing my dishes, pots and pans I purchased the GE spacemaker 18" built-in stainless steel dishwasher, I thought to myself, if nothing elsa I can store my dirty dishes/glasses inside of the dishwasher until I could wash them by hand........This dishwasher has totaly stolen my heart, it may be small; but it is mighty....my dishes are spotless as are my glasses, it does pots and pan as if it was triple the size and the gental cycle leaves my china and crystal sparking.........This was my best buy of 2007!!! This dishwasher provides basic functionality. To turn on the different cycles, you need to move the dial clockwise. You can only move the dial in this direction. In order to get to light / gentle cycle, you need to move past the other cycles, you can hear them start / stop as you pass over them. The width of the dishwasher is slightly wider at the top (control section). This makes the gaps next to the cabinet wider at the bottom and tighter at the top. The dishwasher does give off some noise. The dishwasher does do a good job of cleaning dishes. It has a heated dry option which is great because they come out dry. Although the dishwasher is compact, you can get a lot of dishes inside it. You will get much more dishes in if you don't include larger items such as mixing bowls and serving trays. Used in game room bar. Needed a small dishwasher, and this one fits perfectly. Great for glasses and snack plates, and utensils. It even has a china setting, and a warming plate setting.
