This bike hitch was the ONLY 1 1/4 hitch-mounted rack that could hold four bikes AND swing away from the back of the vehicle with the bikes loaded. I had never heard of the Softride Company before. Because of the features I took a chance on this rack. I also knew that if there was a problem REI would stand behind the product.It was pretty difficult to attach the rack to my U-haul installed hitch. I recommend that you go to a local hardware store and get an extended socket that fits the attaching bolt before beginning this project. The extended socket made the attachment much easier. Furthermore, once it was attached, it proved to be an excellent rack. It really does fold away from the car with all four bikes on it. And the bars that hold the bikes are very easy to detach: all you have to do is press a button in the back.After using the rack a couple of times, I broke three of the twelve plastic straps. Very heavy duty, and very heavy weight at 50+ lbs without bikes. A bit too heavy for a 1.25 inch, Class 1 hitch. Arrived with broken plastic anti-sway holder and broken lock cable. Very easy to swing up and down while bikes are still loaded. Read more
