Terrible sound

Got these as a present. I used to work in a recording studio and still do some music editing on the side. If you do not know music and electronic quality, and have no way to do direct A/B comparison of similar products, you may think these are OK... However, I still have a few Sennheiser and AKG phones and the BOSE just sound TERRIBLE. There is a lot of boost in pseudo bass and highs and colored mids to fool one's hearing of "quality" but these cannot produce any challenging music material. I would pay NOT to hear these horrible phones!! I first thought maybe I was being unfair, comparing these to my other much better sounding phones, but then I checked to see how much these were and these cost more than all the others!! Typical BOSE, poor quality at jacked up hype and price. Do some direct A/B comparisons with other well known brands with all music material in person before you even consider buying this terrible product! Read more

First I would like to say that I have been an avid Boseconsumer since 1992. I own several Bose products and I willbe the first to tell you when I don't like a Boseproduct...a la the first generation Wave Radio CD.I have however nothing but praise for these triportheadphones. I purchased mine in October 2003 and theytransformed the way I listen to my music. If I were todescribe the sound quality in one word...I would say it isfull. From bass, mids, and highs, everything is very clear. The headphones do require a short break-in period becausethey sounded better after a couple weeks of use.The headphones are very comfortable. They are not small butthey are not at all big. The cups fit nicely around yourears and the foam is of a premium quality. It is not aslippery foam, it is a grippier foam that stays put overyour ears. I should note that the foam cups are alwaysreplaceable should you ever wear them out.One thing I really like about these headphones is that theinner drivers are ang

I have an HP computer with Windows Media Center and a portable Magnavox DVD player as well as the itouch and ipod and ipod nano. These headphones have been shared by five people. Of note, because the cord is not overly long, it sometimes catches on the keyboard pull-out drawer and has been knocked on the carpet more times than they should. I have not had one bad incident with ANY of my BOSE products. The sound quality is very good. No, it is not of the noise-cancelling quality, but very good for what you are paying. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I can watch the media center in the same room with my three sons and their show on a large TV and still enjoy fine sound quality with this pair of headphones. We own three of these along with two QC and three in-ear pairs. All well worth it. Read more

...Bose hasn't worked out the headpiece (headband) for this set. Maybe they never will. Excellent sound, though. No kidding, but Bose had to replace my set three times. The headpiece will/did snap/break; even after being very 'delicate' as I removed them from my head/ears. Bose "upgraded" a set (Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones) of different headphones that require a battery after returning the third set of the TriPort. [sigh] With me so far? Uh, certainly the sound quality is not as good as the TriPorts I had (three times), but the headpiece/band is still intact! And according to the Bose site, the Acoustic Noise set has the TriPort acoustic headphone structure. Funny, but I don't believe it. Oh, and they cost more than the TriPort headphones. If you buy the TriPort, don't try scratching your ear if it itches while wearing the headphones. Take the set off, scratch, replace headphones on head and enjoy whatever you were hearing. Read more

First off, im a huge fan of Bose, i have the Companion 5 speaker system for my computer also, which is also a very, very nice product. Now, down to the headphones, very nice, excelent sound quality, comfortable fit, everything is nice.

The sound quality on these headphones is definenetly out to impress, the high's and lows are crisp, and the lower-bass tones are very distinct. Also, after you listen to them for a while, and you "break them in" with use, they start to sound better and better.

The fit is very comfortable, the headband is flexable, and the earpads are the softest and nicest that i have ever seen on a pair of headphones. They are also very lightweight and portable.

Overall, i love these headphones. The only con is the cord, it seems a little on the thin side, and almost seems like it will rip right off, although, it shouldn't be a worry, because if your gentle and not pulling on the cord to hard it will be fine. Read more
