Good speaker for the money

I bought a pair of the 63's for my patio. I went with the 63's to save a few bucks over the Definitive Technology's 64's (which I use in my surround sound set-up for surround L and R). They definately dont sound as great as the 64's, but if you are looking for a good speaker for a basic system or for outdoor applications like me, they are well worth it. They sound better than most in-ceiling speakers you will find at Best Buy or another retailer. Only thing I dislike about DT's in-ceiling speakers is the installation clips. They are kind of a pain to figure out, however, once you get the knack they aren't too bad. The key is to turn the screws a little more counter-clockwise than the instructions say (about 1 full turn instead of the 1/2 turn the instructions state). Then turn the screws clockwise to seat the mounting clips. THe first set of DT's I bought, I did not do this quite correctly and had to go into my attic to seat the mounting clips. NOT FUN. I have no complaints about the sound from these. I use them as my rear-surrounds and they are great. Only flaw is the mounting clips which are extended into place by turning a screw. There are 4 but on both speakers, only 3 seated. This meant I had to go into my attic and manually extend the 4th clip to ensure a tight fit to the ceiling. The installation definately was a pain due to this but once installed, I have NO complaints about the sound quality. Read more
