It does not get better than this for the price. I spent hours with the salesman in my local shop and learned every difference between this bike and the Trek models both a click above and below. It seems to me that components and weight (composition of materials e.g. Al vs. carbon-fiber). This bike is a mix of both Al and carbon-fiber, resulting in a very light bike that isn't $10k. I haven't changed any of the components that came with it as I've found all of them to be great.

I bought this bike for commuting and light weekend riding and the amount of fun I've had on it has turned me into an avid cyclist. At least for me, the double is preferable to the triple, and is cheaper too, which is great.

If you're examining the 1.2, the 1.5D, and the 2.3, and you're not a professional, this is it. Read more

When I was 16 years old and got my first car, I never thought when I was 40 years old I would be getting back into riding a bike! But here I am. I'm a Police Officer in Dallas, Texas. Became a Bicycle Officer in 2007, so that got me back in the saddle. In February 2008 I bought my own Gary Fisher Mountain Bike, and soon found I was only riding on the road. So I ditched the nobbies and put road tires on the mountain bike. Gained 2 1/2 mph, but still wasn't satified. I rode that bike 4-5 times per week and found myself picking up ground on the road bikers. Then I bought the Trek 1.5 and LOVE IT! It's my first road bike and I can't believe the difference. Lightweight and fast! Couldn't be happier. Trek makes a great product, the only concern should be the person putting it together. Make sure to test ride yours before you purchase. If you have ANY concerns, tell them to make the adjustments before you leave. If the bike is assembled properly...you can't find a better bike a

Great bike for a newer rider.

I added this bike to my Trek 7.5 FX and love it. I got an 08 which has essentially the same components. Other then my front derailleur be a bit difficult to get it aligned properly the bike is awesome. It rides great, I have the tripple up front so it is easy on the hills. For such thin tires the ride is very comfortable and the frame is nice and rigid. When taking turns there is no flex and it is stable and well planted. I am 6'2" 210 lbs and bought the 60cm frame which fits me perfectly.

No regrets, if you are looking at this bike, take it for a test ride, you will love it. Read more

I sold a competitors bike to buy this bike. The other thing was WAY too flimsy for someone 6'6" 230 pounds and the competitors customer service blows. The Trek is smoother, lighter, stiffer, has better brakes and wheels plus overall feels 150% safer to ride at 25 to 35 mph compared to the other bike.

I ride pretty hard and ride a very hilly area. some of the downhills are nearing 40mph. The 1.5 feels secure, confident and most of all safe under those conditions. It also is a pleasure to ride as it is quiet, smooth and fits us leggy people well. I can see me and this bike having a long relationship. Maybe one day I can afford a Madone but in the meantime, this is close as it gets in this pricepoint. Read more

I mainly use this bike as a commuter, but have taken it out on training rides.

The bike is inexpensive and rides quite comfortably. I've ridden it on training rides with no problem. It's a nice looking bike as well.

The bike has a poor front derailleur. The SSR wheels/tire set are not good as well. My particular frame has a little more flex than I expected. Read more
