I gave this to my boss for Christmas. He is an avid fisherman and he likes weird collectibles, so this seemed like a perfect item for him! Indeed, he seemed tickled to receive it and said, "This looks like something I would buy for myself!" His reaction made up for the hefty price. This item can be hung via a hole in its dorsal fin, or it can hold itself up when placed on the ground by bending down the abdominal fins.One con is that the fish sculpture arrived a wee bit rusty, but I think an application of a rust remover and some clear Rustoleum would protect it from the elements. The artist was at a recent art show in Austin, TX. I bought the fish for a friend of mine; he's planning on using it as a change holder. We didn't want to carry it around all day, so we dropped it off at another friend's booth, and suggested she use it as a tip jar. We ended up back at the artist's booth to buy more stuff and our other friend showed up to buy her own fish. Turns out people loved the fish as a tip jar and were more inclined to tip. We also ran into another couple at the show who had bought a fish and she was planning on putting potpourri in it. This fish is great, with all kinds of uses, and I really wish I had bought one for me, too. I bought one of the Gnome-B-Gones, but I still really want a fish... Read more

This fish planter is a fun addition to our back patio. It looks just like the picture. You need to bend the fins up into place when you receive it, but it looks great afterwards. We have this outside, and it will definitely rust over time. I'm not sure there's anyway to stop that. The rust will add character. Read more
