8x22 Safari is the best product for the price. It is everything that I wanted in binoculars as compact as this and much more. I hesitated for a long time to buy binoculars because I never thought I'd have much need for it, would not get a clear picture or enough magnification without paying tons of money. O boy, was I wrong. I don't know how I ever managed to live without them. The best thing, they give clear perfect view and they are incredibly compact and light for such a high quality product. This is a very nice unit with great clarity in a compact size. It comes with a carrying case but can easily fit into a pocket or belt sack. The edge to edge clarity is very good. The BAK 4 lenses do not disappoint. It's armoured coated for rough handling. The eye cups can be rolled down for the eyeglass wearer. But the eye relief is sufficient to leave the eye cups up. It took a bit of getting used to the thumb pad but once I got used to it, it is a good referrence point for quick access to the focus ring. Indoor use is limited to bright lighting. Viewing stage productions or symphonic performaces were OK. The 8X constricts the angle of view and I've found 5X or 6X better suited for these needs. Read more

As a locomotive enginner I use binoculars to check switches and signals as far in advance of the train as possible , especially on long heavy trains. I prefer compact binoculars but need quality optics and these really fit the bill! Read more

I purchased both the Steiner 8x22 and 10x26. Very similar. My husband sez he can not tell difference (go figure). I was not sure about the 10x version, because have to hold more steady when using. The 8x22 are perfect all-around use for me. (Bird watching, hiking (lite)). The 10x26 are wonderful to see details better, or birds at greater distance. Love the quality. First pair of quality binoculars I have purchased/owned--picked Steiner because of other comments on Sierra Trading Post. I'm pretty darn happy w/ these! Read more
