I have lived in the mountains of north east California for 30 yr, snow/h2o skiing, hiking, back packing, hunting. These binoculars will be used for all of the above and more. Were I use them frequently is stopping in the in the car to watch wild life on the way to work. Small enough for a jacket pocket powerful enough for good distance viewing. I also bought a pair of 10x 50 Ralleys based off the coments of another shopper who happens to live in the Sierra's also. Both of these glasses are a great choice. These 10x 26 do not let in as much light in durring dawn and sunset hours. But that is the only comprmise I see between the two. Read more

I have tried 5 different kinds of compact binoculars and these are the first that really deliver outstanding clarity with a size that will fit in my pocket. An avid fly fisherman, I love to be able to add bird watching but hate the bulkiness of full size binoculars. These are really a comfortable and well made pair of binoculars that are now my go to pair. Read more

I have a great pair of Steiners I use for hunting. I bought this compact pair to take with me backpacking. The binoculars are light and fold up nice and compact. I have tested these binoculars at a hockey game and outdoors, they provide a nice sharp and clear image, I really like these guys! These binoculars will be with me on many, many future backpacking trips into very rugged wilderness (Montana, WY, UT, etc.) and on my adventures in Missouri. Read more

I have owned many pairs of binoculars in the past and was tired of them failing over time. A bump here and there and use by my kids took there toll. I believe that this was due to the lack of strenght in the construction of my old pairs (all constructed in Japan). Right out of the box you can see and feel the strenght and quality built in to these fine Steiner binoculars. Read more

I purchased a pair of these for youngest son who is avid backpacker/naturalist. And I purchased a full size (10X) for oldest son, whho ia a passionate hunter. We are all going on a hunting triip this fall. Both pair are great, but the full-size are heavy. No difference between the two, except in low light levels, where the full size are superior. After trying them, I purchased a pair of compacts for myself. My Bausch and Lomb are going to Goodwill. Read more
