My son came home from college and while he was gone he developed allergies to our cats. We were not getting rid of the cats, so we had to find an alternative. We purchased the Ionizer and put it in the Living Room. The first day, it needed to be cleaned. At first, it didn't look dirty at all, that is, until it was washed! WOW! Amazing how gray the water was. Within a few days, my son's allergy symptoms had eased greatly. My husband and I also noticed relief from allergy eyes due to pollen and mold. We've noticed there's less dust on the furniture. It's EASY to clean. The interior unit pops right out, rinse, allow to dry and voila - back up and running. We have it on 80% and it really moves the air - nice in the summer. The only downside, is it needs a clearance of 24" behind the unit. We put it in a corner of the room. Read more

This has to been the best air cleaner / purifier I've bought to date. I've had 3 other "stick air purifiers" you may have seen on tv which have all failed shortly after purchase. Even when they were working dust still accumulated around the Ionic Breezes. With the Brookstone Pure-Ion Advance you can tell immediately that clean fresh air is circulating around the room. I have not found dust near / around the unit. When I walk into the house I can smell the clean! You can run the unit at full power or an infinite difference all the way to whisper quiet. There is no High/Medium/Low. You can slide the dial from low to high and hear a gradual speed with the four fans. I run this product at full power 24 hours 7 days a week. You can put the filter in a dishwasher if you choose. I clean mine in a wash tub. The water afterwards is dirty! Very dirty! I let the filter dry off and turn it back on. This unit is very quiet and seems to work well. The filter can be cleaned in the dishwasher - a nice option, but it is tough to dry the filter afterwards. We have found that it is easiest to dry the filter by using a hair dryer. Read more

I tell you what....As a seasonal allergy this in product is superb at cleaning the air reducing my allergy symptoms. I run the purifier maxed out all day in the living room while at work then in the bedroom when I sleep. You can really smell the difference as well. I have six cats (no that is not my allergy, trust me!! and no I did not randomly want 6 cats, I took in a skinny stray femalewho must have just got pregnant) and this purifier does a great job at removing floating cat hair etc... I admit, I didnt wait for the "clean filter" indicator to light up before I cleaned the filter. I waited a few days after purchasing it, WOW!! Since I dont have a dishwasher I sprayed the filter in a wash tub. I was not expecting such dirty, disgusting, and cloudy water!! I let the filter dry in front of a fan for an hour and started the purifer back up. Guys, This is, by far, one of my most favorite products ever built. This is the only purifier i have ever used that actually helped reduce breathing problems i encountered regularly. The only problem i find is that I cannot sleep with it on, or in other words, have the pure-ion on for more than a few minutes as it begins to noticeably dry up my room while cleaning the air. please improve upon that issue and i would blindly give it a solid five !
