I have 2 BOSUs. I LOVE them for what they can do in terms of exercise. Each BOSU I bought at Target, which was significantly cheaper than ordering them from a sports performance magazine. However, they are different from each other. They serve the same purpose, but one is far more durable than the other. And the less durable one has become mishapen. To be fair, they get a lot of use from a core and cardio perspective. I noticed in looking at the performance magazine that BOSU is trademarked and in all CAPS, so perhaps the second one I bought is a "copycat" and not as well made, hence the 4 star rating over the 5. BEWARE of the copycat and try to buy the original Read more

I have a personal trainer at the gym and this is one of the products that we use on a regular basis. I love it! At first it can be a little hard (intimidating) but if you are into a challenge and want the most from your training then I say this is it. I use it to do squats with and without weights which diffently tightens those core muscles, wonderful at keeping you focused on the stabilization of those core muscles. I use it for cardio that alows me to get my heart rate up by starting with one foot on the bosu and the other on floor coming up on the bosu but never allowing the other foot to touch bringing it towards my abdomen and then twisting at waist. I also do a low squat with one foot on the bosu and stance will be with the other foot on the floor staying squated low and still low as I come up onto the bosu (on my strength training days I will incorporate weights while using the bosu). There isn't any impact on the joints, I had weak knees but since I started using this it has s

The BOSU is one of the best fitness tools on the market, very versatile and challenging, and there's something for everybody. With lack of balance and core strength a factor in many injuries, this is a great way to train. I've been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and this is the best abdominal work I've ever tried! Read more

This is one of those items that you see at your gym and are probably intimidated to try. I attend weekly fitness classes that started incorporating the bosu ball and I soon fell in love with the range of activities you can do and how hard my whole body was having to work on it. During a class with 5 or 6 different exercise stations, the bosu was the most challening for me but also the most fun. I have a small home gym and usually jog on a treadmill while watching TV or movies, but the treadmill is loud and can make focus difficult. The bosu ball was my solution and I use it for both cardio and strength exercices. It takes some getting used to but I think you'll find that this is a great little excercise tool, and fun too! Read more

I have become a gym rat and use the BOSU every day. I generally use it flat side up - balancing on one or both feet, weightlifting, curls, medicine ball catches with the trainer and squats. I also do a yoga-type plank while holding it flat side up with my hands at 9:00 and 3:00 positions. From the plank position I keep my body tight and roll my shoulders right to left, strengthing my core. Using the same position, I do push ups. I've used it 6 days a week for three weeks and the core-strength improvement and ankle stregth have been amazing. When balancing on the BOSU all of your center muscles are being used to keep your body still. This is likely the best use of one's money when it comes to exercise equipment! I'm now purchasing one for use at home. Read more
