I trail run at least once a week. Usually on mixed terrain from rock to dirt to gravel. These shoes seem to have good traction climbing rock. Haven't had them through the water yet. Have only run on them with my Superfeet and fairly thick socks. I bought them a size larger than normal since feet tend to swell during long trail runs. So at the beginning they feel a bit loose but then seem to feel ok as I go. So far so good but only owned them a short time. Read more

I bought two pairs of trail running shoes for my marathon training (Vasque and The North Face) . I thought I would use this shoe as my training shoes and the other one as my shoe for long runs and for the marathon. These shoes have performed so well Ive decided to use them for the marathon Ive been training for--the Catalina Marathon, which is 80% trails. The fit, support and stability on these shoes were exceptional on my 11.5 size feet. I saw them on sale again and just ordered another pair. I now use the TNF for the gym and training. Mercury XCR - This shoe felt comfortable and fit nicely right out of the box. It has adequate support, fits rather snug and is sturdy yet light. I used them immediately for a jog/hike through terrain including gravel, sand and woods. The ground was wet but the shoe kept moisture out effectively. I have no complaints about the tread-it held all surfaces very nicely. After a few wearings, the shoe feels like a custom fit. I am also on my second pair of Vasque hiking boots and find their products to be durable and reliable. I would definitely recommend the Mercury's! Read more
