The finderscope is the only thing I can honestly complain about. I solved that by installing a Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope. Now it's simple to find objects. I have seen nice views of the moon, the bands of Jupiter, the Flame Nebula, and many other wonders. Once I got the feel for using an equatorial mount, things became much easier. The images submitted were my first try at imaging. Jupiter in the 10mm Eyepiece was much brighter and sharper. Read more

it came in the mail when they said it would. it was packed very securely. came with all the pieces. collimation was fine. VERY EASY ASSEMBLY. it took me longer to unpack it than to assemble it. i have zero experience with this equipment and i assembled it easily in less than 10 mins with no instructions. i took it out and used it that night. it was heavier than i thought it would be, great contruction, sturdy tripod, i really like the slow motion cables. the EQ mount is definately difficult for a beginner but worth it for the slow motion cables. ANY telescope is difficult for a beginner, they all take patience to learn, this one is a good place to start. i really only have 2 complaints, and that is the star finder is worthless, cheap, it uses 2 plastic disks that arent fully transparent. Also, it comes with a 10&20mm eyepiece that are ok but, youll eventually have to get at least a 2x barlow. so all those people who said its hard to put together and use probably arent cut out for astro … Read more

First, this is a great product[...].When you receive this baby it arrives in a regular box, but inside there is another box, full of color and details of the astromaster.Then, the quick guide and the owner manual are very well explained; putting everithing together was fun and in 35 minutes I was done.It looks georgeous when you finished, the tripod, solid as well as the optical tube, not too heavy.The wather is not on my side, I tried by 8:00 o'clock to watch something, but it was totally cloud, let's see to night...Another good thing was the (Celestron 1.25 eyepiece and filter kit), just sturdy, a beautifull metallic case, and the eyepieces top notch. A must have. Two bad things; the finderscope does nothig, is just a piece of plastic and a red dot on it that disturbe your vision. I ordered this telescope after having canceled an order placed with another online supplier. Needless to say I was anxious to get my telescope (it was a birthday present from my wife). It took less than a week for it to arrive. I opened the box and had it completely assembled in around ten minutes. The construction is very sturdy and the controls are fine. I was able to sight Jupiter and find it in the eyepiece with relative ease and with very good clarity. I would have liked this more if it had come with a Barlow lens or maybe a higher power eyepiece, but all in all, these are minor complaints. I am still thrilled with the value and feel like Telescopes.com is a fantastic place to find my astronomy needs. I will start with them when I have new purchases to make. Read more

You couldn’t ask for a better deal says it all.[...] While assembling the product I discovered it’s locater light was not working and pieces were missing. I called Celestron customer care and they sent me a new one out at no charge. The moon looks amazing through it and despite the lights and smog of the city I can even see the rings of Saturn. I've recently adapted my camera to it and taken some great pics (see attached) Overall this product is easy to assemble and use, I’ve recommended it to several friends. It’s such a great price I’m seriously considering buying on to donate to my kid’s school. Read more
