My wrists can't stand up to a can opener anymore, and electric ones constantly have to be replaced. This was bought #1,on the reputation of the company; #2, because I don't like multiple appliances on my counter top, #3, I'm a scratch cook and need to open many containers for ingredients when I start my cooking/baking projects. This unit stands up to the demands I place on it, and with the variable speeds of the mixer, I can really zip through my preps. For the price you are expected to pay for this product and for how many years they have had to perfect it, not to mention the perceived value of the brand name, it is disappointing. Frequently does not cut all the way around, even with several rotations, especially on smaller cans. I have tried all different ways of inserting the can, to no avail. Off the shelf, self contained can openers for less than half the price have performed better. I own a stand mixer and hand mixer, both KitchenAid, which I love. However I cannot recommend this item.
