I bought one in the early 1990s which was much, much better. They shouldn't have tried to "build a better mousetrap" -- it was a simple, well-designed device; there was no need whatsoever to re-design it. In terms of being loud and the labels having poor adhesion -- that's been the same since these were introduced over 50 years ago, so I was already expecting that when I bought this new one. But the issues with the letter spacing really bothers me. It is far more durable than the older Rotex product that I have, and produces more consistent letters. I like the size of the letters as opposed to the other product. Dymo should be embarrassed by this product. I agree with the other reviewers: the printing quality is dreadful, the instructions non-existent, the tape nearly impossible to insert.
