Great performer

I'm using this as a centre for a 5.1 set-up (NAD amp, B&W front speakers, Bose rears)
It sits really nicely with the rest of my gear & is reasonably inconspicuous.
I was a bit anxious on buying this unit as I had read some negative user reviews on it but now I really don't see they are valid negatives. The fact is this is a centre speaker for a surround set-up. It's role is to keep dialogue focused on the screen. It does that brilliantly. The output is crisp and clean.
The negatives I have read relate to people expecting it to pump like an additional speaker in their array. That's not its intended use, yes it will produce music well if you switch your system onto a 'hall' (equal output to all channels) setting but don't expect it to pump out like a big speaker. Like I said, that's not it's purpose.
As a centre speaker for a surround system it's an excellent choice that probably sounds heaps better than the price you pay.
A couple of negatives however...
The colour - the 'silver'

I currently have the 5.1 Bose acoustimass 10 cube speakers, I run them off of my Harmon Kardon AVR 254. Overall the sound is really good except for the center channel, the dialogue sounds very muffled, i tuned down the bass and increased the treble and still no good. I even changed the dB on the center to +10 and reduced the left and right speaker all the way down to -2 and it still sounded awful. I decided to invest in a center channel speaker that was $250 or less so I went with this Bose VCS-10 thinking it would greatly improve the overall sound, especially in the dialogue. To my surprise, it was still no good. It sounded a little bit better but not worth the $200 I paid for it, I was very dissapointed. For those who think maybe I didn't calibrate properly, trust me I did everything that can be done and I'm very technical when it comes to setting up audio. This speaker doesn't even have a tweeter to pick up on the highs, as far as bass on this Bose speaker it's non-existent but that

I noted great difference in the sound especially when listening to dialogues from a movie, and also felt rich effect even while connecting the receiver to DTH receiver. The vocals were more crisp & clear from the speaker. I connected VCS-10 to my Yamaha amplifier and adjusted the settings to "Small" as recommended and felt the astounding effect. I would recommend this speaker to music/sound lovers who want more crisp, clear & rich sound from their existing systems - Regards Aslam Read more

Added this centre speaker to new Onkyo amp along with existing Orpheus and Bose speakers and sub woofer. Gives fanstastic vocal separation and projection at all volumes, including when movies are turned right up and the house shakes.
Also has great spatial feel and vocals genuinely seem to be coming from the actors' mouths - as they should. Fits in very nicely under plasma and looks very discreet. No complaints at all. Great product at a great price. It's not the best-ever, but neither is the price. Very highly recommended. Read more

I bought this one to complete my home theather, since the guy was telling me that, mixing different brands wont get the full sound, cuz they made in different ways. All of my other speakers are bose, they are very good, not so great, but good for the buck, the only cons i give to this, is that is not that great with hight range, but other than that, is awesome. Read more
