The lead glides on the page unlike other pencils. The strokes are smooth and the eraser acutally erases without other marks. You can give me 100 other pencils and I will be happy with one of the Dixon Ticonderoga's. Besides, one the great battles of the American Revolution was fought at Ticonderoga! What could be more patriotic than using their pencils. Read more

Every so often I throw out all the old pencils that have accumulated around the house, the ones that are too short, have erasers that have become hard and difficult to use, and so on, and throw them out and replace them with new ones. It's a small matter, to be sure, the but game is won or lost on a thousand details. Read more
