This is a great size microwave for most people and has some nice features. I had never used auto-cook features where you select the type of food and portion size, but am impressed by it. With you use these settings, the heat cycles are customized and the food is more evenly heated. It works so well that I try to use the auto-cook feature whenever I can. Also, GE prints the auto cook selection guides on the inside of the door so you don't have to look it up in the manual. I will say that I don't see the need for both an auto cook and auto reheat settings for beverages. It seems redundant and I would rather GE had included an auto-cook setting specific for a baked potato. I do like the express cook keys and the +30 second key. For a 1100 watt microwave, the +30 second is going to be more useful than having to add a full minute. We just bought a GE Microwave JES1139 model 2 weeks ago. Shortly after we brought it home and started using it, the door started becoming more and more difficult to open. At first, you press the button and the door pops open, then after a few times, you press the button and the door remains closed and does not pop open as it did earlier. It is now, after 2 weeks hardly ever popping open when the door latch is pressed and one has to press the latch AND pull on the door to get it to open. I threw away my receipt and now am stuck with an appliance which cost[$] and has a pretty major problem. Other than the latch problem, the oven works great. Read more

I use this microwave for basic cooking and it is great for that. Just a hair smaller than the mid-sized I was using but I have no problems with the size. Where this oven excels is in price/performance. A very nice model that is about $20 less at ABT than at a local discount store. It does everything I expect at a price that made me happy. Minor inconveniences include buttons that have to be pushed directly in the center or they will be somewhat hard to register, and the lettering is a gray color rather than black which is not quite as visible in dim lighting. I have owned the oven for just 2 months and if it performs well over time it would earn my highest ranking. Read more

New to this machine - it was a replacement to an older much smaller Little Litton. This is a pleasure as it seems to work on the timings that are suggested on the packaging of various food products - which is a nice change for me. With the old machine I always had to double the time and guess. The only minor complaint is the the popcorn stting seems to need to be on it's longest timing for all size microwave popcorns. When I used the lower settings much of the popcorn kernals did not pop - when I used the first setting (which is the longest) it worked just fine. Thaws frozen food nicely. Haven't tried all the various features yet - but it offers many nice options. Mostly we reheat coffee, heat muffins and zap premade meals from Fresh Direct. I just have to remember that on the coffee it needs much less time than the old machine or it can come out way too hot. Love the Black finish. Read more
