I have approximately 20 gigs of content I wanted to load onto an iPod and the classic was my choice. I am extremely happy with.

Pros -

The battery life, as far as I can currently tell, is excellent giving me about 6 or 7 hours for video and around 30 or so for music. It's an exceptional amount of battery life. The next big thing is the space. 80gb is a VERY large amount and I don't plan on running out. It's got the classic iPod good looks and the screen is, although not as big as some of the competitions like the Zune for example, it's of high quality and pixel density so, even though it may be smaller, it is of excellent quality and I fully feel comfortable watching videos on the iPod classic. Clean and simple to use controls and a wonderful, graphically rich, user interface that shows off your album artwork are all to be found on this new iteration of the iPod. The inclusion of three new games; a new iteration of the music quiz, vortex which is essentially breakout but circula

I love my new iPod, but setting it up caused a MAJOR headache...

I had been managing my music library in iTunes on a Windows 2000 machine for several years without ever owning an iPod. Upon purchasing an 80GB iPod Classic I discovered that it wouldn't sync with the version of iTunes that I had. I tried upgrading my iTunes and found that the version I need to sync my iPod with requires upgrading my OS to at least Windows XP and that such an upgrade would require a "clean install" forcing me to reinstall all applications. Luckily, I have a laptop running XP so I pointed it at the 2000 box's library and used it to sync with the iPod. Not really what I want to use my company issued laptop for, but it was either that or spending a bunch more money just to get my home desktop to sync with an iPod.

The good news is that the iPod setup from the XP machine was extremely easy and the iPod sounds great in a Cambridge Soundworks docking system I also bought.

The only other issue I've

Well, after 4 years with iPod 3rd Generation I decided to upgrade my self. I think that a product could never be better. It has all you need, style, great sound, easy to carry on bus or inside the pocket.
Another issue that really changed my life is the battery life. with my old iPod after few years I've had maybe 2 hours often 3 hours. Now I can take my iPod away without charging even 4 to 5 days with massive use.
The new aluminum skin is very nice, much more pleasant from the previous iPods and it's even unscratchable (it will be only if you wish so).
The software to sync your stuff is iTunes, actually any child can handle with this software, very friendly software, and you can download for free from Apple website (the CD installation is not included with the iPod package).

If you have any doubts, just don't. The iPod will be the best choice for you. Read more

I purchased the iPod classic 80 GB. The iPod classic has sufficient space for my needs and I don't think the extra 80 GB for the 160 is worth the $100 price differential. The iPod is great to use while commuting, exercising, resting and walking. It is easier to use than older models and it truly has a click wheel (I had a 2nd gen Nano previously). I love the cover flow, making it easy to pick out albums like I used to do when I actually owned them. Although my iPod froze on me once in the 3 weeks I have owned it, I have not downgraded it because it was relatively easy to fix. Additionally, it only happened once after I was flipping too fast on the controls. Instructions how to fix the freezing was found easily on the web and in their user manual. I would recommend this product. I had purchased the iPod through Abt. Abt provided the best price around [...]I would buy from Abt again. Read more

I love it, I can take it anywhere, I can easily fit it in my side pocket of my carpenter jeans. It has so much memory. The new ipods are 160 GB and whoever gets those are insane, cause thats a ton of songs, videos, ect. I don't even know how someone can fill up the 80GB. Anyways the price is good I guess, I got it for christmas so its not money out of my pocket, but for 80GB its a pretty good deal. I haven't tested its durability yet, but it is fully encased with metal, so it will probably be pretty hard to break.

Cons. None yet, someone said it takes a second or less to play the song when you click on it, but really...who cares, mine hasn't froze yet...so I still haven't experianced anything wrong.

Overall- A really good Ipod, I wouldn't change anything. Read more
