Great all-around camera!

A friend of mine had one of the original versions of the PowerShot, which he recently upgraded to the 750. I have the SD1100 now and LOVE it. All of the PowerShot cameras have amazing ease of use. They can shoot quickly and without much attention by the user and they still take great quality pictures. I am also an owner of the RebelXT, and while I don't believe anything will beat my SLR, the PowerShot comes as close as anything I've seen yet.

Lately I have used both cameras to take pictures for an area fire department, which involves many different light situations, and my PowerShot handles it all.

The color capabilities and the image rotation accessory are just extra fun features that make this camera a great choice for a first time or experienced photographer! Read more

The camera is great. Sleek, compact, and it takes great pictures. There are lots of features that are accessible once you get the hang of the menu (which is a little complicated). If you just want to point and shoot on an auto setting, though, you can be up and running in seconds. It comes with an SD card that will hold about 16 pictures on the 8 megapixel setting, more if you want a lesser quality image. The battery it comes with takes about an hour and a half to charge, and it will work for about 45 minutes total. I would recommend buying a 1GB SD card and an upgraded battery right off the bat, but you could wait on the battery if you're not taking it out for hours at a time. When you purchase through Abes of Maine, expect them to call you before they will process your order, which is irritating. They will try to sell you a bunch of add-ons, ie. an SD card, battery, case, etc. If you don't want any of that stuff, you'd better be up front with the guy straight off when he calls.

Very fast turn-on and very little shutter lag. Multiple resolution choices to match SD card size (small or large) and need for detail. Took it on a trip to France. Took great pictures indoors with fairly low light and no flash. Flash range is pretty short -- about 12 ft / 4 meters maximum for decent exposure, but when flash disabled, works well in churches and museums. Outdoors excellent without flash (see samples - 3 Megapixels), even in low dusk light. Battery life was OK -- took about 280 pictures before needing recharge, with minimal use of preview option for shots taken. Image stabilization worked well for me but some blurring when wife used the camera. Read more

I love this little camera because it's so easy to use. It's tiny and compact so its always in my purse no matter what and I barely know its there. It has a great zoom so when I'm far back at a concert this camera will still pick up the musician on stage. It's worth every penny! Read more
