This is our first digital frame, so the low resolution was a bit of a shock. The actual resolution seems to be a RS secret - not even in the specs (nor is the screen size). Still learning to use the unit. The unit can be oriented either horizontally or vertically. So must your pictures, and on separate memory cards. But the vertical pictures must be horizontal, with the tops all in one direction. In other words, the frame only shows wide horizontal pictures. If you want to show vertical pictures, you have to turn them horizontal and then turn the frame vertical. I suspect the frame is 480x854 resolution, or 16:9 format - the same as wide screen TV. But most digital cameras seem to take photos in 1.5:1 format, and standard web resolution is 1.33:1. I don't think the far ends of the screen on this unit will get much use. Buy another? Perhaps at the sale price. But I'd look harder at specs like screen resolution and perhaps avoid the 16:9 if given a choice. A nice additio

This frame has all the options you need. I found that if you reduce the resolution of your pictures to match the frame you can put more pictures on the internal memory and they still look great. Read more

My wife was nagging me about putting pictures from our wedding in my office. Rather than have a few frames scattered haphazzardly or a clunky book, I decided to upload our pictures to a SD media card and get a digital frame. This one is excellent. Only complaint is that if you are not looking dead on at the frame, the picture can be grainy from side views. However, people constant stop in my office and watch the pictures flow by. We were able to our wedding, the reception and our honeymoon on a 2GB card. If you sat through the whole thing it would take over an hour to watch. Great conversation piece. Why wedding photographers don't offer this as a product is a mystery to me. Read more

I got this as a Christmas gift. I can't complain, it was for free. Even that it says it would work with XD memory, it doesn't. 2 different working XD memories it says there is no playable file in it... with 48 JPEG picture files perfectly inside. Copied from the XD to a SD memory, worked, so.... bad product. I wonder what is the resolution of this unit, it is not said anywhere, 640x480? any other? who knows? It seems the manufacturer wants to hide this information, bad for sales? I will try to get the purchase ticket and return this unit before it breaks and gets black, as many other owners are complaining. Why Radio Shack don't do something with so many complains? I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. BE ADVISED. Read more

Only Allows ONE Transition!?

I don't have as big of an issue with the resolution as other people but my big thing is the clunky 'wipe' that you can't change! Most frames, you can select the common dissolve, straight 'cut', etc... this on doesn't even have those basic and popular ones... just the ugly move from top to bottom. (In fairness, my 7" frame has a white 'matte' so maybe mine is older and hopefully this has been addressed.)

Aside from that, loading the pictures is easy compared to another frame I have... just pop in the card and you're done. Fortunately, I bought a $5 1gb SD card from Fry's. Read more
