The only difference between the 2100 and 2120 is that the latter has maps for Canada, whereas the 2100 is for the 48 contiguous states in the US.I purchased the 2100 model from Staples (online) for my husband (who's 54 yrs old) because he was afraid to go alone to new places for fear of not finding his destination on time (or at all), despite my excellent written directions and hand drawn maps! I used to be his navigator but am not able to go with him at times. He's been extremely happy with it & said the best part is if he misses a turn because of traffic or not being able to move into the correct lane, how he doesn't get upset trying to get back to where he was. He just continues until new directions are spoken. There was only 1 problem in the beginning and that was operator error, not the GPS' fault. When you turn it on, you need to hold down the ON button for a few seconds. He had programmed in his destination the night before & saved it; then he turned the GPS off. The nex

I recently started covering the Portland, OR area. If you have ever driven around there, they have some very unusual placements of on and off ramps. You'll be in a residential area going 25mph, and poof, an on ramp. I was using MS Streets and Trips and looking around and down at the maps, wondering if I missed a turn.

No more. The Navigon 2100 is awesome. The 3D is like your seeing the actual road on the screen. It even figures your ETA for your destination and automatically updates the information. Points of interest you can select 0 to 28 categories and see them coming up on the right or left, or see the whole gammet when you stop. It's nothing short of amazing. It comes with an electronic log book and route planning. I simply plugged in the addresses at my hotel (since this was my first trip) saved them to the route page and go. It's so nice to get in, turn the Navigon on and go. I have mine mounted right below my rear view mirrow and never have to take my eyes off

I use this product for work. I wound up giving it to my wife and kept my older Garmin, even though the Garmin did not offer the street names when directing you. The Garmin spoke louder and was more accurate. The screen on the Garmin was larger too and much easier to use. Read more

Just got this unit last weekend. I've owned a TomTom & Garmin prior to this. This unit seems to have the better graphics found in a TomTom but the better navigation found in a Garmin. I love the all black case, the fact that it has the most adjustable mounting bracket of any unit I've owned, & the highway signs that drop down as you approach a major road change. It looks just like what you're seeing out the windshield.
Being new, I'm sure there'll be even more refinements but it's great just out of the box as it is. Read more

First off, this is my 1st gps, and I really *do* like it, and would buy it again! (although I would consider a larger screen model). It does have great features, and I got it at an excellent price on sale.

After using it for a month, and a trip from NY to Lancaster PA, I do want to point out some of it's shortcomings / things that could be better.

-Frequently, acquiring the satellite when turning it on can take a while (up to 3 mins). Needs a minimum of 3 sat's, I've gotten a max of 12. In NY City, walking on 3rd Ave, at approx. 10th st, even without skyscrapers, it has failed to get a satellite lock. Since I dont drive in manhattan, I dont know if it would be better in the middle of the street itself.
-The screen gets very crowded / little display space when all the info is turned on. Speed & alt., eta & distance, speed limit, interchanges coming up... when all displayed can take up approx 66% of the map-display space.
-Seems like every time you pass an exit on the highwa

I bought this on sale to compare it to my MIO Digiwalker that is a year old. The MIO uses teleatlas maps, wheras the Navigon uses Navteq. When using both simultaneously, the MIO blows the Navigon away in mapping the routes. Assuming it's the maps and not the unit, Navteq has a long way to go to catch up to Teleatlas. I realize there are many who disagree with this, but the MIO recognized my routes and kept me on the shortest/fastest way all the time, while the Navigon would attempt to route me literally miles out of the way, which would have added considerable time and distance to my journeys. This happened about 70% of the time, which is a lot. The MIO also boots up a lot faster and acquires satellites in a couple of seconds, not almost a minute like the Navigon. The Navigon is also really slow in all of the functions, and it requires a pointing device to use the keypad. Letters are small for an adult, but good for a 5 year old. The 3D views are cool, and the text to speech i

I bought this mainly for a trip to Washington DC/Maryland area and future trips to other states. I thought this device was extremely easy to set up and it acquired the satellite super fast in just about any place. It got me where I needed to go with not too much fuss.

Although I think it's worth the price, the menus were somewhat difficult to navigate and the system works much better in rural areas than the city. She's just a bit slow on getting out the next direction in time while traveling in the city. I found that driving in the city, it really took a combination of actually observing road signs and paying attention to the Navigon. Read more

After reading everything, I decided it was 'time' to play with it. Actually, it was quite easy to figure out, and I've 'tested' it numerous time. Everything works just great, and I LOVE the text to speech feature. Honestly, I have no complaints whatsoever. Even the mounting contraption stays on the glass and is quite adjustable!
