You have to use the mode/functions button for everything you decide to do, like use flash or not. They could have simply put a flash on/off button. The first time I used it was Christmas Day, since it arrived on Christmas eve. Somehow one of my friends deleted all of the pictures I had taken, up to that point. What a disappointment. My kids were now gone visiting other relatives and my pictures were lost. Too many things to remember and the view box is quite small. The quality of the photos on the camera was poor and there were no instructions that came with the camera so operating it was extremely difficult. I would not recommend this item to even my enemy.
