Great Buy!

I have used the Vortex Viper 10X42 for scouting and hunting, I needed a binocular that did a great job in low light conditions. I hunt in Colorado and Wyoming so it's important that I am able to glass far distances. Additionally, I needed a binocular that did not weigh me down especially when hiking above 11,000'. I could not be happier with the Vortex Viper's. They preformed great in low light conditions. They are comfortable in my hands, no accidental bumping of the focus wheel. They are crisp and the color is true to the outer rings. I have looked through the big three binoculars in real situations, not just at the store. If you were to rate the big three as a 10 then the Vortex Vipers would be a solid 8. Read more

Best $ I've ever spent on hunting gear

I have never bothered to write a review of any piece of equipment before, but was so impressed with these binoculars, I HAD to write this one. For those of us who are unwilling or unable to afford the price tag of the finer optics, the quality of these binoculars is so close at a quarter of the price, I don't think it is possible to beat the quality of this product for the price, period! I bought my Viper 10x42's on Friday after 10 frustrating days of hunting Oryx (and not finding - I had only seen 2 in 10 full days from daylight to dark in the desert/field)in NM near White Sands Missile Range using a decent (but not great) pair of older binoculars. Just as day was breaking on Saturday, I was in the desert again with my new Vipers strapped to my chest! Shortly after daylight, I almost forgot what I was hunting, since the first animals I saw were 3 very nice mule deer bucks. According to my map, from the hill I was on to the hillside the deer were on was over a mile and under 1.25 mile,

I am a professional guide and avid hunter in eastern NV for muledeer, elk, antelope, predators etc. I own and regularly use 2 different pairs of Swarovski binoculars. I purchased the Vortex Viper 10x42 binoculars as a light weight alternative while stalking game or hiking. The quality and clarity of the glass is unmatched for the price. Side by side on a tripod, the Swarovski's still win but not by much. Read more

compact size, excellent lenses, very clear, I had the opportunity to compare with El Binocular (Swarowsky) although not the same image quality is close. I used Bushnell, Nikon, Sigma and Vivitar, Vortex is higher (at least comparing with similar prices).
