We bought this a year ago to replace our dead ATT kitchen wall phone. Our primary goals were to respect a sentimental attachment to the phone that served us for 20 years and to have good sound quality for our aging friends. Since our deal with Verison gave us free caller id that seemed to cinch the deal.

Except one needs to be extradordinarily careful when hanging up the phone because otherwise the handset lands up on the floor. Must be a sturdy handset because it still works after many trips to the floor. But how is it that a firm that hopes to be respected for technological expertise puts out an ordinary kitchen telephone with a hanger that is much too short. When you hang up on a tele-marketer you want to do it with authority and panache. The whole experience is ruined if the handset ends up on the floor. True?

We stopped using the caller id feature (which was poor to begin with) when the AA batteries ran out the second time in four months. Our Uniden portables all have

I have the forerunner to this product, the model 3910 which is a brushed aluminum finish. I originally got this phone for power outages. Its smart to have at least one phone that doesn't require electricity, which this one doesn't. I also like the organic ring (sound initiated by a hammer hitting a bell, what an innovation!). I just ordered caller ID from the phone company, don't see it on the LCD yet, not sure if its the phone or the phone company. The caller ID will reset the clock in between the first and second rings (per instruction manual). Personally, I love this phone, but do agree that phone purchases are a hit and miss proposition. MANY phones purchased are incredibly shoddily made. This one has worked well for me, though. Oh, one more thing, the way that the handset is designed is comfortable on my ear, unlike many other designs that are flat or just a bunch of holes in plastic. Read more

Ughhh. Where to start? The first set of batteries lasted a long time. After that, needed changing every two weeks. At times, the display reads all eight's and even following the directions, the display won't clear to bring up the Language, brightness and area code menus. It doesn't allow us to delete old numbers. It doesn't update the date and time between the first and second rings. New batteries display as half strength.

Looks great and is sturdy, but doesn't deliver the features it claims to. Save your money. Buy something else. Read more

I've been looking for a phone like this for the longest time. When I finally found it! I was happy but not for long. I purchased the phone to have a corded phone for when the power goes out I still have a working phone that doesn't need electric. only to have the CALLER ID quit working then the buttons quit working so the only thing this phone is good for is incoming calls. wish I still had my old phones from when I was a kid those phones never died Read more

Wanted a plain old fashioned wall phone with caller ID. Not only was the ID small and hard to see, but batteries needed to be replaced frequently. Also static started after I owned phone for awhile and continued even after I replaced cord. I put up a cheap old phone in same connection--no static. Would not reccomend phone to anyone. Read more
