They have a clarity and sharpness even in low light situations. Excellent for viewing birds, wildlife and scanning the landscape. I am thrilled with their quality at a reasonable price. After using an older pair of binoculars for over 20 years to view birds, I am astounded at how much clarity and detail these Nikon optics have. I should of made the switch earlier. Read more

Great for bird watching and more. I was upgrading from my ancient Porro 7x50s and was concerned about the reduction in calculated light factor from their 50 to the 27 of these, but I think these are actually brighter than my old 7x50s! I have no complaint about the lens covers (they are tethered), and I can easily replace the carry case if it wears out. I think the 8x42 Monarchs are fantastic value for money. Read more

These are a really good midrange binocular if you don't want to spend the big bucks on Zeiss or Swarovski. Light and compact Good feild of view and clarity. . Much better view than the Nikon Monarch 8x36. Read more

This is the second pair I've bought. They are so good I gave a pair to my son. We both use them for big game and water fowl here in Colorado. Additionally I use mine for bird watching. The optics are as clear as can be and the field of view is just right. Low light clearity is one reason I bought these.When the sun is going down you need to know if it is doe or buck. Read more

The binoculars are well made and easy to adjust. I wear glasses, and I have no trouble finding objects close or at a distance. The lenses are very clear and crisp for viewing of birds and wildlife. The glasses are recommended for birding and I can see why they would be. All of the descriptions, of other users seem to be correct. I would buy again if something happened to this set. I work along side of a river and I find myself using them daily. Read more
