Gentlemen,.... this microscope is really bad... I don't recommend to anyone... It does not work properly... no images... and the manual is completely incomplete (paradox, hein)... unbelievable I waste my money... but the final disappointment is for my daughter... My 7 year old daughter and I just picked this up using one of her gift cards and she couldn't wait to get home and use it. There was no instruction booklet in the box but it wasn't hard to set up. However, it doesn't work. For [$] I didn't expect a professional microscope, but I did expect it to work. It is nothing but a piece of junk and I will be returning it tomorrow for a refund. We set the microscope up very easily, but it was difficult to see anything through it even at it's best focus. The light connection stopped working correctly after just a few months and even with a replaced bulb and new batteries, it still doesn't work.....we're throwing it out because our son got it as a birthday gift. We bought this for my 8 yr old son last xmas ('07), it was easy to put together but took a lot of fiddling around to get any light onto the bare scope, but as soon as you insert a slide it blocks the light. It's virtually impossible to see anything. I won't even mention the bits of carpet fibre they try and pass off as 'unspecific animal samples', it's a total joke. Cheap it is, but being cheap doesn't mean it's worth it. Save your money. Read more

The CDROM disc is corrupted and unreadable, plus it isn't even self starting. The light does not work. There is crud on the lenses. Very hard to focus light with the mirror assembly. It does work, but is so difficult to work with I am afraid it will be more disheartening than enlightening. I would be furious if I had bought this. It was a gift. Read more
