This particular remote isn't very useful for me. I have owned it for a while, consolidating only a television and dvd player. While I purchased it for the novelty of a thin remote, problems accompany that. The most pronounced problem are the location of the channel and volume buttons. If you have medium to big sized hands, you will cramp a thumb every time you try to use them. Whatsmore, the buttons aren't backlit. If you have the tendency to use your remote in the dark, or otherwise low light, you'll get tired of it quickly.One remote I will recommend is 15-2146, a six component remote. This remote, while discontinued, is still available in very many stores because, for whatever reason, it didn't sell very well. It had been discontinued and the price has dropped by twenty dollars down to $14.97. Versus store wholesale cost, I wouldn't expect it to drop any further. I bought this remote just today after the one that came with the tv/dvd unit gave up the ghost. I've owned dozens of remotes, but have to say this is the nicest by far. It's thin, slick, handy and simple to program. The buttons are logically located. I have small hands though, and can see where a man with large hands might not like it. But that goes along with most newer electronic devices these days- such as the iPhone, iPod, etc. In short, if you don't have huge hands and you like things simple and sleek, this is a remote you'll love.
