The free-fall of the anchor is a great idea but I have had two units replaced in the last year. These units would free-fall great, but, when I would try to set the anchor by pushing the up-switch it would not engage, causing me to manually hold a small gear on the side untill it engaged. I am currently contacting Trac again to see if we can work out something or replace the third unit within 13 months. Trac has been a wonderful company to deal with in the past and gave prompt courteous service each time. Read more

Problems started with installation. Screws that held the top on were rusted tight. Contacted TRAC and was told they knew this was a problem. Finally got it installed and tried to use it. Free fall worked fine, but when we pushed the UP button for retrieval, the gears would not engage. Again we contacted TRAC, and AGAIN we were told that they knew this was a problem. They have sent us new gears for both units that we purchased. If we had known we would have to rebuild these units within a month of purchase, we would not have wasted our time. Read more

When anchor is released the gear spins off the threaded shaft. In order to raise the anchor I have to remove the cover and manually start the gear on the threads. It has been replaced once and does the same thing. Very poor design. When unit was first recieved the cover was cracked. It took two tries before I recieved a good cover. all in all it is a very poor product. Read more

Large brass gear at motor input wobbles and is not flat. Gears mesh on edge not in center and I fear premature failue. Locks up and snaps with a loud pop as gears mesh occasionly. Motor is not mounted so that it aligns with large brass reduction gear. If I had not gone to much effort to mount it and paint around base of it I would return. What I call cheap quality! Sorry but true! Read more

I will send a reply to this next June. I just got them mounted on the pontoon boat and had to put it away for winter. I tried them on dry land and they pulled up my 30 pound anchors, but they don`t catch right away going up after you release them. Must try them on water to give a good test. Will contact you later this coming summer.
