Purchased these to upgrade my pc speakers for the purpose of computer recording on a budget.

Bear in mind, that those who choose to complain about these monitors lacking bass, are individuals who are using them for another purpose other than critcal mixing & mastering in a compact space.

Note that these monitors offer a balanced amount of bass-which is sufficient for effectively mixing sounds such as electronic music, without being over-powering or boomy in character in the low end.
These monitors function beautifully for the price-particularly in a confined space with acoustic panels behind them.
The tweeters are indeed,a bit bright, but this does not pose a problem-unless of course you subject yourself to prolonged periods at high volumes at close range.
Otherwise, these monitors are superb for a computer enviroment.
For their current price, they are the best possible monitors you will ever get your hands on.

These are beautifully crafted monitors with a remarkable aesthetic q

I had some apprehension when I bought these monitors because the guy that I bought my MIDI keyboard from [...] was throwing the word "Interface" around a lot when we were talking about them, but they were already ordered and I didn't have the funds for an interface in my budget at the time. So, I thought that the speakers were going to arrive and I wouldn't be able to use them. So, when they got here I took them out of the box and hooked them up to my laptop's headphone jack with a double 1/4" to single 3.5mm y-cable expecting the sound to be all fuzzy or for them to explode or something. I was happily mistaken because my house began to rumble when I turned to volume up. Bottom line- Excellent sound, excellent monitor. (Especially with the price tag that BH put on them.) <a href="http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/m-audio-bx5a-5-studio-monitor-speaker-reviews#bz-model-review-6037987">Read more</a>

I've got Polk, JBL, klipsch and an assortment of others. These speakers sound great! Nice look and feel, perfect size for a desktop studio. Love the glowing ultra blue power-on LEDs. These are a nice add to my son's Mac Mini / Logic set-up. No gripes, crisp highs, mellow mids and for a little speaker impressive bass (if you crank-up the eq on the low end). It's the perfect amplified reference monitor if you want to take affordable computer audio to the next level. Btw, a subwoofer doubles the fun - added an 8-inch Infinity 'down firing' unit and connected it to the phones output on my Presonus Firebox. Lovin it! <a href="http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/m-audio-bx5a-5-studio-monitor-speaker-reviews#bz-model-review-6390403">Read more</a>

I use these monitors in my home studio for mixing. I also have a pair of Hafler M-5's that I use with another computer. I like the balanced sound of the Haflers better, but I appreciate the bright top end of the M-Audio BX-5As for close examination of acoustic instruments. I wouldn't like them for stereo speakers, but for monitors I think they're pretty good. The price was right too. I do not like the fact that they are apparently painted with lead paint. There is actually a warning sticker inside the User's Manual that tells you that the product contains lead and you should wash your hands after handling! <a href="http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/m-audio-bx5a-5-studio-monitor-speaker-reviews#bz-model-review-3502026">Read more</a>

I've used this pair for monitors for over 18 months at work where we produce tv commercials and documnetaries. They work perfect, you hear everything. I recently bought a pair for my audio studio at home and pump up the volume to the max, it handle the max volume very well, but when I send only bass at very high volume I can hear some bass leaking over into the tweeters.

Problems Encountered: When I send only bass at very high volume I can hear some bass leaking over int the tweeters.
