Big Remote

Got this as a gift for my husband-the remote was always getting lost down the cushions or buried under a stack of magazines or kicked under the chair. Buttons are big, easy to read and they do glow noticeably in the dark. Gave this a 3 on ease of operation because it took us a long time to get the settings to work so we could use it with our tv and dvd. Could use a mute button and a couple other programming features, but that would probably make the thing too huge to use. Takes both hands to hold, point at the tv and hit a button. Good for basics, however, channel surfing & volume control. Still use the smaller universal remote for the extra features--keep it in a drawer in the end table, at least we aren't losing it any more! Our grown kids thought it was a hoot. If you have big fingers, you will appreciate the button size. You won't need your reading glasses to change channels either. Read more

Pretty big remote lol

This remote is pretty big. It has some kind of rubbery feel to it, so it won't slip out of your hands. It's easy not to lose it because of its large size. Most of the features on your TV are on the remote. All the functions (basic and some advanced) are compatible with the remote. It's a little hard to figure out how to program say, 2 TVs on the remote. It says you can program up to 8 devices, but there are only 4 or 5 devices listed at the top, so I don't know how to program more than one kind of device into it.
Overall, pretty neat remote! The glow in the dark buttons are pretty nice, although I'm not sure how long the text on the buttons will last. Seems like it might wear off over time. Read more

We live in Colorado and I can only get the remote to work our TV, so it's pretty much a waste because we just have another remote that does the same function. Believe it or not, Sony wasn't listed on all of the appliances to program (they divided the codes up to program the remote by TV, DVD, VCR, Cable, etc.) and it didn't work with my DVD/VCR combo or our cable (Comcast) box.

Great product, if it worked with others. I was shocked that Sony wasn't on some of the lists (like the the DVD/VCR combo - there were only like 5 choices) and that Motorola wasn't on the cable list, when those are both major products. Read more

Though it looks great, comes from a supposedly reputable manufacturer and claims to operate several items, three name-brand components were not recognized by the unit (Jensen, Toshiba and Sanyo). The online customer service page is a joke and no one from Sharper Image has responded to my phone calls or emails. I will be returning this remote to Overstock.com, not because of O's service, but because the product does not function as advertised and Sharper Image was not responsive AT ALL. Read more

Jumbo Remote

Got it for our bedroom. Mainly because we couldn't see our normal remote well in the dark, and we were always losing it. We can always find this one, and the buttons are much easier to see at night. The one downside is that two hands are neede to work it.
Really like it, but shipping took a very long time. (Longer than 10 business days) Read more
