Some mixed results, great features

Please note that in the "cons area" I marked these because I had mixed results in photos. The picture quality is good and can be great, but in some cases it could be much better. My old (Nikon p4, 8 mega-pixel) was equal or better in color and resolution. The camera's lag is not good in this new camera, this should be a must for any new camera in this day! In some light situations the focus is fair to bad, but other brighter situations it is sharp. It is hard to control in low light. If you are in normal sun it is good, but in shadows or some darkness it can sometimes be blurry. This may be due to it's image stabilization is not "optical stabilization". The "electronic VR" doesn't work as well as I would like. I would recommend a Nikon point and shoot camera that has Optical VR Image Stabilization, such as there Coolpix S600 or other. I would recommend this camera to the average person who just wants to take good clear snapshots. The smile feature and the face frame feature are fun for a while but end up turned off most of the time. Low light situations are very grainy, I can't seem to get past that. The older version of this camera wasn't as bad. I love to take time lapsed photos at night, but with this camera it's a NO GO! I do like the panorama assist feature. Read more

This camera takes great pictures. The only problems I have are, rather short battery life and too bright of a flash. If i try to take an outdoor picture or a picture in dimly lit place, the flash makes the room or even the outdoors look like it's daytime. If the flash is off though, it is too dark. Maybe there is a setting for a lower flash. Other than that con, this cameras pictures are clear and I love the color settings! They can really make a picture look great. Read more

I bought this camera for a 7 day cruise that I took. This camera never failed me. Never ran out of battery power, only had to charge 1 time during the 10 days I was gone. Took amazing pictures, sunsets, sunrises, people the ocean, zooming into objects all came out wonderful. Could be a bit better under low light circumstances but I can't complain about this product and told everyone on my trip about it. Read more
