The steamer does just what I wanted, stores in my walk-in closet and is ready in 30 seconds to quickly press, freshen, or neaten a crease before I head out the door. There is a definite learning curve in using it, but once you master pulling the fabric taut and moving the steam head at about 4" per second, it takes only 5 minutes to steam a dress shirt leaving crisp pleats in the back. For collars and cuffs, I lay the shirt on a clean folded towel and it's done in seconds. It is compact enough to keep right in the closet where I need it, and is ready faster than I could set up an ironing board and heat the iron. Its disadvantages are that the pole and base are light and easily swing or sway. It doesn't keep the job from getting done, but does make you chase it around a bit sometimes. It would be much easier if I could find a shirt frame or if there was a way to clip both the top and bottom of a pair of slacks. You do actually run out of hose before reaching the end of longer pan

I hate ironing with a passion. I had been using a small hand-held steamer when a garment needed pressing and liked the results, but not the weight of the steamer when full - it made my arm tired after a few minutes. I wanted a bigger steamer without the weight and thought Tobi might be just what I needed. I had read mixed reviews about Tobi, stating the tank leaked, not much steam power and it wasn't easy to use so I was very pleasantly suprised with the results I got with it. The tank did leak on the floor the first time I used it but then I found a silicone seal on the floor where I assembled it, put it on the tank valve and no more leaks. I found that the tank needed to be tilted forward a bit to get good steam from the machine. Another complaint I had seen was that you couldn't steam collars, sleeve ends and hems very well because you would get burned by steam. I found that I could do a beautiful job on all these by laying the garment on a pillow and running the steamer head on the

Tobi is a solid and reliable product. It is quick, easy to use and works on all materials that I have tried. I bought it with the hopes that it would reduce my need for dry cleaning and the expensive rates. It has surpassed my expectations and probably would got to the cleaners again except for special needs. My sixteen year old son uses it frequently as well, he loves its! It worth the cost and more. Read more

I was very excited to get my Tobi steamer, but the first time I used it, I was very disappointed. I steamed a shirt on the hanger, and I found it hard to balance the Tobi while applying pressure to get the wrinkles out. And it is nearly impossible to get wrinkles out close to an end seam because you have to let go. The steam is very hot. I then wanted to do the curtains in my home, but when I went to make the Tobi portable, water just came pouring out. I checked, and everything was locked as it should be. I turned it off, emptied it, refilled it, double checked everything and turned it back on. It did it again! Mind you, this is leaving huge water spills on my carpeting. I found it was easier to use when it wasn't portable, but then I couldn't reach the higher places.
I also noticed that the steamer head picks up colors and little hairs. It was a disaster going from burgundy to white under curtains! All of them were clean and washed numerous times before. Be catious with t

I was loving it, until I saw the floor! Water was allover. The mattress was soaked! It's really good if you don't detach it from the base, otherwise the water drips. You have to keep refilling it uses up a lot of water. Read more
