My husband and our two adult sons wore these shoes in different colors for our two week trip to Italy. There was no break in time and noone complained about blisters or any discomfort. In fact, my one son, who nevers wears a style like this is now a convert to Merrell. Do not hesitate to get these. They run true to size...if you are a 10, get a 10. The terrain in Sicily, Positano and Rome was cobblestones, dirt paths and even included an uphill terrain climb to the top of a mountain...these shoes handled it all comfortably. I started wearing Merrell shoes over two years ago and will never wear anything else! Each pair lasted almost a year of constant wear & tear, and have no doubt the new Intercept will do just the same. Very comfortable. I've only owned them for less than 2 months. Bought the pair a few weeks before a 6 day trip in Rocky Mountain National Park. Lots of hiking and no blisters or problems. Although, the rubber on the tip of the front of the shoe has started to peel back. (See photo). It could just be an isolated incident. Besides that, i would definitely recommend this shoe. Read more

I was desperately searching for a comfortable water proof hiker that offered really good support and traction. I compromised a bit as I know this is a reputable well known brand name in the hiking world. My only disappointment is that they are not water proof, but I plan to treat them to make it as water proof as I can. Those results are yet to be seen. Mean time, I can say these shoes are very comfortable for long walks/hiking. Read more
