I was running low on my Clinique soap bar after years of use. Instead of just running out and getting another bar, I decided to reevaluate my options. Did I really need to pay that much money for facial soap? Is Clinique really the best facial soap for me?

After a long time researching expert suggestions on the web (and let me tell you I learned a lot of stuff about beauty routines and realized I was definitely not following best practices), I settled on Cetaphil Gentle Facial Cleanser for Normal/Oily skin.

I definitely have oily skin. I console myself with the fact that oily skin tends to age better so I'll be looking ten years younger when I get to 50. In the meantime, I'm always looking for good oil control for anything I put on my face and am usually blotting during the day.

So in my case, Cetaphil was perfect. It cleanses without overdrying my skin, so it feels clean but still soft and touchable afterwards. Read more

I wanted to purchase the Cetaphil Lotion because I was running low on the product. As usual, for most of us, I was in a hurry and picked up the Cetaphil cleanser for normal to oily skin instead of the lotion. So, I thought I would give it a try and see how it worked. I have used so many cleansers in the past and none really worked like I thought they would. Boy was I in for a big surprise. I could not believe the lather and the smell is wonderful. A very small amount of this product goes a long way. This is the very first facial wash that I know works for me. I have skin that is oily at the t zone and not anywhere else. I would think that any type of skin would benefit from this face wash. It does NOT clog my poreslike everything else has in the past. I know that buying this product was a mistake, but a mistake that worked out to be beneficial for me. Read more

I love Cetaphil. I have oily skin and am prone to breakouts. My skin is usually too sensitive for cleaners designed for acne prone skin (I've tried hundreds of different kinds over the years). Cleaners with salicylic acid and other ingredients for acne prone skin dry my skin out too much causing it to break out even more. I love Cetaphil because it cleans my skin without over drying it. I use it morning and night and I have seen a dramatic improvement in my skin. One bottle also lasts a long time (it usually takes me 2-3 months to go through a bottle). I highly recommend Cetaphil. Read more

First, for the packaging, the nozzle makes me love it coz it's so easy to use. For the cleaning, I' have a very sensitive skin and I've tried so so many cleanser in the past and most of them had caused break out and dry feel but this cleanser helps me to tighten my pore and clean my skin really well but I use Sebamed Moisture after this because i always did. Bottom line, with this price line, I love this product. Read more

I started using this cleanser about 6 weeks ago upon recommendation of my dermatologist. He wrote me a prescription for Retin-A and said that Cetaphil would be the best way to prepare my skin for the Retin-A because the ingredients in Cetaphil won't interact with the medicine. I chose the 'Normal to Oily' cleanser because I have combination skin. I must say that this cleanser is one of the few out there that truly controls oil and shine in the oily areas without over drying the normal areas. The quick, noticeable results that I'm seeing with the Retin-A indicates that the Cetaphil is really doing a great job at properly preparing my skin before application of the medicine. With all that said though, these reviews are all purely subjective. I wish there was a 'one size fits all' solution when it comes to facial cleansers, but it's not that simple. Unfortunately when it comes to things like this, a lot of it is just shopping around. Read more
