The thing I didnt find so great about the detector is it's range around curves although I've owned a Valentine 1, a passport 8500 x50, this detector is good for the money.

However, I saw NO different in the x50 and this v955. The only difference is the features which the average person never uses anyway. Read more

Im not sure why other reviewers check the "Gives false reads" as a con, you have to be an idiot to think the radar detector is going to stop detecting radar when its not police radar. Its a RADAR DETECTOR, it detects radar, when theres a signal, it tells you, would you rather it NOT do that? IDIOTS! Detecting "falses" is a good thing, it means its working and doing its job, morons.

Regardless, best detector Ive ever owned, great range, excellent sensitivity (again thats WHY IT FALSES!), and the ramp up is second to none. I live where all bands are used and have had multiple saves on all bands. Buy this detector if you want just pure performance without the extras that make the others so expensive. Fantastic product. Read more

I travel over 40,000 Interstate highway miles a year. Though I don't try to be a speed demon, I push the edge (10 to 15 MPH over posted highway speed) to save some driving time. I had a Bel 965 prior to the Bel 995. It worked great, but it was stolen out of my vehicle. This 995 is just like the 965, except on steroids! I picked up a NC Highway Patrols KA band radar 4.5 miles before I ever saw him. The sensitivity to KA and K bands are unreal. It does a great job of weeding out X band false alarms. Out of curiosity, I left it turned on (but out of sight) while traveling through Virginia (where it's illegal). It picked up every state and county patrol radar I came across, without being detected by their RDD (radar detector detector). I'm assuming they were using VG and not the newest systems. I would not recommend normal use of this unit in Virginia, unless you are really on top of things. It does a great job in the city as well. It picks up every police radar blocks before I encounter t

This product was thoroughly tested in South Texas during the week of March 24, 2008. It did not disappoint in our testing of 800 miles. It is very quiet (eliminates false signals) and very quick, i.e. responds immediately to the real thing: radar/laser signals. Operation mode: AutoScan just turn it on and let it do the work. It remembers volume adjusting so you don't have to readjust each time you turn it on. Results: No surprises … tickets … and there were plenty being issued between McAllen and Laredo, TX and between Victoria and Houston. Read more

After receiving several speeding tickets I decided to buy a radar/laser detector. My first purchase was a Cobra XRS9440 12-Band Radar Laser Detector 2008 model. There were no reviews on this model but I figured that the Cobra brand name has been around all my life so decided to give it a shot. I had the Cobra for about three weeks and I almost got caught on three separate occasions by state policed speed traps. This unit didn’t sound off An alert at all it was a good thing that I didn’t completely trust this component. If you need a motion detection detector I would suggest the Cobra XRS9440 because that is the only thing that it is good for. Needless to say I took the Cobra radar detector back. This time I did my home work and researched detectors at [...] after extensive research I decided on the Beltronics Vector Series from Radarbusters.com of course. The unit performed as advertised which in this day and age is hard to come by. I live in a mountainous area of PA and the alerts sta
