I have for a long while been looking for a piece of equipment to stream media mostly from my computer to my t.v. However the Hava does the exact opposite, it streams media from your t.v.,DVR,VCR,DVD,etc to your computer. After insuring all equipment pieces were there due to it being open box, I began the install.

I have a dishNet 625 receiver with dual tuners. I hooked the Hava HD RCAs up to second t.v. tuner. Installed the wifi dongle to usb port #2 and held in the reset button for 1 minute to erase the previous owners setup attempts if any.

I then went to my computer, put in the setup disk and followed the instructions. I was up and running within 15 to 20 minutes. However, there were updates that showed. But, I skipped this part continued to install Hava, ensured it was working, then updated from the Hava website.

If you have basic knowledge of setting up A/V equipment such as hooking up a basic dvd player then setting up the Hava will be simple.

I had a choice between Hava and Sling , but went to Hava because it offer few more features. Unfortunatelly after several days trying to install it through wireless, then wired network, then at the end buying a crossover cable I could not install it. I called several times the support center, for two times I got a bad support , the first I had the impression that the attendent had been paid for number of calls he received, meaning his intention was not to solve the issue, but get out of me as soon as possible. Every time that I called a new surprise on how to do the installation, for example, I learned that in order to you to use a crossover cable for instalation, you need to have a fixed IP on your computer (The support attendent guide me through the support community website, where I found instructions that this was mandatory to use the crossover cable, sucha surprise that the Users Manual doesn't mention anywhere). Also I learned that you need to turn off all kind of antivirus and fi

When my desktop pc died, I lost Beyond TV and Orb which I used constantly. Purchasing the HAVA restored the time shifting capability of Beyond TV and place shifting capability of Orb. All without requiring an always-on computer. The video quality on local connections is excellent and very good on remote connections. The Nokia N800 player easily doubles the value of the internet tablet! I plan to add a second HAVA in the future for my other Directv receiver. Read more

One of the best things about the Hava is that is wireless! I installed the software on 2 notebooks and a desktop and I have TV all around my house. It was really easy and fasto set up (15 min) with all cables included. It's just like a TIVO for pausing live TV and recording TV shows on my notebook PC. I also loaded the Hava software on my Nokia phone for free and it works great! The quality is really good, I watched the election results on it and the picture and sound was impressive.
My buddy has a new Sling Box and I don't think you can compare the two, the Hava's picture is better and WiFi is awesome. My wife needs it to support her Blackberry though. Read more
