Okay, so even with all the reviews read - some positive, some negative - I decided to try Mederma because it is the number one doctor recommended treatment for scars (as advertised).
I have a cat at home, that still has his claws in... so yea, go figure... I have scratches, and scabs , and thus little scars a-l-l over my body. One scar, in particular, really stands out. It's on the uppermost part of my arm, right by my shoulder. People ask me all the time, what happened to my arm... It is that obvious. I therefore decided to attempt to treat the scar, and yes, thought I would give Mederma a try.
I used Mederma for two week until I was forced to stop using it. As I type this review, my entire body is ITCHING, not just where I applied the treatment, but everywhere. Yes, very odd, but true. I have little bumps all over my body (some in clusters, others spread out). They resemble what is commonly known as a heat rash, if anyone is familiar with that. The areas to which I actually applie

Prescribed by surgeon; four times a day - massage hard. After two months, everyone says scar is not noticeable; it still feels quite thick and knotty but is not very visible. Product is runny and tends to drip on my clothes (lost a quarter of my upper lip to cancer) when first applied, a problem at work. After rubbing, it becomes sticky and leaves visible flakes. A colleague tried it on her surgery scar and was allergic (itchy swelling and rash) so gave me her tube. I tried it on an old scar on my face and it itched so I stopped. Read more

I recently cut my thumb quite deeply and needed 5 stitches. As soon as the cut was healed enough to leave the band aid off completely, I started using Mederma. That was about two weeks ago, and I'm already absolutely stunned by the results. I had figured that for [$] it couldn't possibly be worth it and I was being foolish and wasteful to try it, but I've been proven totally wrong. The scar is so faded already that you can barely tell it was ever there, and, according to the directions, I have 6 more weeks that I should apply it, and, of course, I will. I fully expect the results to continue and that by then it will be completely gone. I can feel it working; it's hard to explain. A slight tingling or burning that is barely noticeable but definitely there. It's not painful at all, just enough to know it's really doing something. And, it smells nice. I use the gel, by the way, and it takes very little per application. The tube will last and last. You barely need to squeeze an

I used this product exactly as directed. The product was applied thinly, because if I applied too much it'd become a paste and start to get all over my clothes (I had to apply it just above my bikini line, b/c of my c-section). I always let it dry first. Even though I applied it thinly, it constantly peeled on its own. I don't understand why it peeled even without contact with my clothing. I regret buying the gel now because it was messy leaving peels all over my skin. I didn't get any results, but I think I will still try Mederma one more time; however, I am getting the new sun protection, cream formula instead (It seems like less mess). I guess it works for some not all, but I wouldn't recommend this product if you are wear clothing over your scars, and you can't put a bandage or some other protection over your scar. Read more

It works very well on new scars. You will have no trouble seeing results. It takes much longer to see results on old scars. My skin is prone to keloid, so I keep Mederma on hand at all times and try to treat all new scars. It doesn't take much time to get rid of them -- especially if you work to prevent infection and then use Mederma once the scar is closed.

Plus, the ingredients are fairly natural since it is made with onion extract. I have recommended this product to a friend. I told her just what I am telling you... She was satisfied. Read more
