I bought the TV to replace a 13" tube TV that will not be able to receive over the air signals next year when broadcasts go digital. Since I had used my discount coupons for the converter boxes for my two larger TVs, I needed a smaller TV that was easily transportable. I demand a good picture and have always bought top of the line. My son, reported that Samsung was considered by many to be nearly the equal of Sony at a lower price. While I could not this TV with a Sony, it clearly had a sharper and more constrasty picture than the other brands I saw. We did not look for at 1080i set because one cannot tell the difference between 720 and 1080i at this size. We have been very pleased. Read more

I bought this TV to replace an old CRT-style analog TV (Sony Trinitron WEGA) that was experiencing interference from a neighbor's defective remote (old TV being powered off and on by said defective remote without any action on my part. Since old analog TV (had it not been subject to interference from neighbor's defective remote) would have required the purchase of an HD converter box, it make good sense financially to just replace it with an HD TV. The Samsung Series 4 was an extremely fortuitous find - not only did it resolve the interference problem from the neighbor's defective remote and make using a converter box unnecessary, the image, the sound, the everything about this HD TV exceeds expectations! If you can possibly afford it, don't buy a converter box; upgrade your analog TV to a Samsung! You'll be more than glad you did! Read more

The LN19A450 is a decent TV for the bedroom or other small area. Unlike the larger LN22A450, the screen can tilt up and slightly down with the supplied stand.

The tuner is quite fast compared to many other TV's (I was going for a Sharp until I saw how slow it was.) Changing channels takes about 1 second, whether analog or digital. It picks up analog (broadcast or cable), broadcast digital (ATSC) and unencrypted digital cable (QAM) channels. The analog doesn't support XDS program info. Digital program info depends on your source. Changing channel settings (adding/removing/favorites) is somewhat confusing.

The screen (1440x900) is actually 16:10 ratio, not the normal TV 16:9 ratio. To view 16:9 material properly, you will still have some small letterboxing on the top and bottom. There is a Zoom mode that will chop the sides a bit so it fills top to bottom. There is a rather sharp cutoff as you view from below screen level. To the sides and above is average. This is basically a laptop/c

I bought this TV to replace a 13" CRT in my kitchen. Based on the reviews, it had a stronger digital tuner than most others, important to me because I currently use a rooftop antenna to receive my local broadcasts in HD. I also subscribe to DirecTV and combine the signals received with a signal combiner. I own a Sharp 42" LCD for my living room that will not tune some HD channels although it is connected to the same antenna. This Samsung tuner did not disappoint me.The tuner is strong and will tune most every HD channel within 30 miles of our home. The design of the TV is slick, looks great, and has a good combination of inputs and outputs for a TV of this size. The menus are easy to navigate. The picture quality of HD is very good, but should be on any HDTV of this size. I've tweaked all the settings to optimal levels as I like them, but occasionally blacks are not always as black as they should be, sometimes dark pictures look gray or foggy. Please believe the posters about the sound

Needed a replacement TV for the kitchen. Found out that Samsung will auto-adjust based upon input signal from 4x3 to 16x9. I hate pushing buttons to avoid seeing "fat people" when the aspect ratio changes. Picture is nothing short of amazing for a small TV. Mine is hooked directly to the cabe, no box. Read more
