I have an Aprilaire 560. My solenoid only lets a trickle of water through. I have gone through the debugging process. There is a steady, 24v at the solenoid. The water into the solenoid flows fine and the strainer is (was) clean. The water trickles out of the solenoid even with the feed tube removed. When the Solenoid goes bad, is it common for it to only open partially? This is the second solenoid I've owned and it is about 3-4yrs old. We run the fan continuously and have the humidifier on all winter. Thanks,

The Solenoid can go bad in the open or closed position. One way that I have worked on it was to apply 28 volts, via a separate voltage source, to the make sure that it is working. When I do this, I get more flow that at 24 Vac. Turning the voltage on a off a few time seemed to make the unit work even better. The unit does not stick any more. Note: The Solenoid has a working voltage of up tp 60 VAC. If you do this, just be careful.Answered at 10:34 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2009ChuckD Maryland
