"The UKF8001AXX has been upgraded to the UKF9001. The UKF9001AXX filters MTBE (methyl-t-butyl ether) in addition to the contaminants filtered by the UKF8001AXX.

I checked with my local water department and their testing revealed no MTBE in our water supply.

So, using the older UKF8001, which is a little cheaper and lasts much longer works best for my situation. Save money using the UKF8001 if your water supply is clear of MTBE."
