"Because I live on the first floor of a brownstone, there are bars on the window so i needed a portable air conditioner. For a cheap unit (they are more expensive than the window units) it does the trick. It's a little noisy but nothing you can't sleep through. The set up is not too bad. you just got to make sure the little water hose doesn't slip back into the vent."
