Apple 32GB Black iPod Touch Review

Best Gadget Ever

"I am definitely a gadget person and this is my favorite gadget ever so much so that it has me looking at other Apple products (I am a Windows user).



The interface is truly touch control with a high level of accuracy. 'Flipping' through screens works with actual finger flips and its perfect. It even can pick up faster acceleration that is intended as you go through a long list.



The apps that are included are well thought out and FUN to use. For instance the Weather app allows you to set up a beautiful page for as many cities as you wish (I use it to input family locations around the world), each page giving a 7 day forecast, and links on each page to go to a yahoo info site for that particular city where you can see events and other news about that city. I have 7 cities entered and I 'flick' through them quickly to get an update on weather where a particular family member is. A cool feature is thoughtful graphics that relate to the weather. For instance if there is alot of snow it will pile snow all over the screen relative to how much snow is falling, etc. Fun, colorful and informative.



Another great app is email which is extremely easy to set up and allows an incredible amount of options.



You will love the ability to go to any site and make a 'web clip' that allow you to put a fast access button to that site, etc., on your home screen. I have a 'clip' set up for my flickr account for instance. On the Apply touch and iphone site they also have started releasing apps that you can download to your homescreen (games, utilities, etc). I have an app for Kenny Rogers Roulette and one for tracking gas mileage among other things.



Surfing the web on a mobile device is normally a novelty on most devices. Apple has made it truly functional here. At the top of the features list is you have a a finger pinch and expand ability to expand and contract a web page that is highly accurate and works very well. You can also tap an empty area of a web page and it will auto-expand for you a certain defined amount. If you finger press an input box or a drop-down box Apple senses you need to input something and it gives you specialized little areas that are in larger print to choose what you want to do or to type in what you need to type in. Works great.



Also the iPod touch senses the orientation that the player is in and will switch the display mode to landscape or portrait.



My only complaint is increasing or decreasing the volume of the player- it can be cumbersome - you have to press a little blue ball on a slider and then drag it...it can be clumsy and hit or miss. They need to do somethign about that in future patches/software updates...



Overall an amazing device...I use it constantly, practically my little pet now."
