Apple iPod classic 80GB Review
Windows 2000 users beware!

"I love my new iPod, but setting it up caused a MAJOR headache...
I had been managing my music library in iTunes on a Windows 2000 machine for several years without ever owning an iPod. Upon purchasing an 80GB iPod Classic I discovered that it wouldn't sync with the version of iTunes that I had. I tried upgrading my iTunes and found that the version I need to sync my iPod with requires upgrading my OS to at least Windows XP and that such an upgrade would require a "clean install" forcing me to reinstall all applications. Luckily, I have a laptop running XP so I pointed it at the 2000 box's library and used it to sync with the iPod. Not really what I want to use my company issued laptop for, but it was either that or spending a bunch more money just to get my home desktop to sync with an iPod.
The good news is that the iPod setup from the XP machine was extremely easy and the iPod sounds great in a Cambridge Soundworks docking system I also bought.
The only other issue I've experienced is that the fidelity of the ear buds has a severe lack of bass.
In summary, don't buy an iPod if you only have access to a Windows 2000 (or earlier) OS and do not want to upgrade."
