Avanti Elba DE2402SC Review
"I have not had the Avanti range for long, but it was great to find a 24 inch range with a smoothtop cooktop. I also considered the DeLonghi (DEGLSC24SS) and the Fisher Paykel (OR24SDPWSX1), but didn't need the warming drawer. GE (JAP02SNSS) makes a less expensive 24 electric smoothtop range in stainless steel with a full size drawer, but I liked the look of the Avanti much more and it has convection cooking.
It looks great, has convection cooking, and a drawer that fits the broiler pan and maybe a cookie sheet or two. The inside light seems to stay on when you cook or I have not figured out how to turn it off, which some may consider a pro and others may consider a con. It is a beautiful oven and the front glass door is very reflective so you don't have to look inside an ugly oven. The largest burner is made so that you can use it as a large diameter burner or just turn on the inside ring and use it as a small burner. It has a piece you can attach to the wall and one of the legs to keep it from moving at all, but we didn't need it as it appears very study and doesn't move.
To get the oven to the height of our countertop (as the counter height was slightly high at the oven area do to differences in floor height) we would have had to put the legs up as high as they can go. We felt that might not be a sturdy as we liked, so instead we created little skis for the legs to sit on and plan to cover the base. Even when you have the legs all the way down, the black area below the drawer is higher than baseboard height, which makes it a bit more difficult to make it look built in. Also seems like a bit of wasted space since it would be nice if the storage drawer was a little bigger. The thing I am still getting used to is that when you cook the fan always comes on because it is convection and it will stay on until the oven is less than 100 degrees. I would prefer I could just turn the fan off and not have the noise. Also, I had to read the directions to understand the controls for the oven since it has a bunch of pictures. Very good for speakers of any language, but something I am still getting used to. We just had company and I was sure to leave them the oven directions.
Because it is so small, you might want to make sure that the side of your countertop material is finished as we find that the oven is an inch of so further back from the front of the cabinets.
Overall, I appreciate it's particular functionality and features."
