"I bought the Baratza Virtuoso to replace a fore bearer, the Solis Maestro Plus, which I have used and enjoyed daily for more four years. The Solis still works well and will be passed onto my son. The Virtuoso has a few design refinements; a more powerful motor, different burrs and a silicone retainer to prevent coffee dust entering the motor compartment and grind adjustment components. Run empty, the Virtuoso is quieter than the Solis, but while grinding beans, the Virtuoso is noisier. With the stronger motor, the Virtuoso maintains a constant grinding speed whereas the Solis would slow down slightly when the beans loaded the burrs. The grind produced by The Virtuoso is consistent and even. So far, I have ground coffee for drip and espresso brews and been satisfied with the results. The Virtuoso is ruggeder, fancier and has a few new design elements over the Solis, but in my opinion both do the same for the coffee."
