"At 36 litres the pair, these are front sized panniers that complement my similarly styled Deuter Rack Pack II rear pannniers but they're large enough to be usable as rear panniers around town. I don't carry huge loads on tour but having both front and rear panniers helps weight distribution and lets me segregate my gear into eating, sleeping, wardrobe, housing and workshop departments. It's better for the bags not to pack them drum-tight and it saves a lot of digging when I want something. This pannier has fixed metal attachment hooks rather than the fully adjustable plastic latching hooks found on larger Deuter panniers but I think I trust the simpler idea more. Because the hooks aren't adjustable for width, I clamped some home-made collars around the rack rails next to the hooks to prevent any sliding. On another rack this mightn't be necessary or a bootlace tie might do as well. The design and construction quality of the bags are excellent for the intended market though I'd choose a more rugged fabric for an expedition to the wilder parts of the world."
