Good Kid's Camera

"This is a great first camera for a child.



We purchased this for our 6 year old son for him to take pictures on vacation. He loves it. He uses it a lot. It has quite a few features, and he has been able to master most of the features. He especially enjoys the timer, so he too can get in the shot. We download the pictures for him, which is fairly easy to do. He has frequently dropped it, it's been used in wet conditions, and it has been surprising durable. It is small and lightweight.



There are a few cons. We use transparent tape to hold the memory card in, as it falls out when the camera is jarred. There is only the screen (no optic view finder), which means going through batteries more quickly. However, 2 sets of lithium AAA generally last a week of taking a couple hundred pics. We can buy AAA batteries anywhere (as opposed to special rechargeable), and we don't need to worry about our son plugging things into an outlet to charge his camera. This camera is not as forgiving to bad lighting; often the flash is not bright enough or too bright (washing out the pic). It doesn't handle motion well (taking a picture of a moving object, or moving when taking a picture of a still object). The quality of pics is ok, as long as the print size is 4x6 or smaller.



All in all, it has been a great camera for our son. I would recommend it for grade school age children. For my own personal use as an adult, I prefer a better quality camera that more consistently takes better quality pics with more megapixels; however, it may be good for situations where you would fear losing or damaging a more expensive camera."
