Dynex 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV Review
"Overall this TV is one of the most affordable 1080P TVs on the market. For those reading this review hoping to get a "Sony"esque review, sorry it isnt going to happen. The TV does well with HD Television as well as HD Video Games from both PS3 and Xbox 360. The HDMI ports carry audio as well as video which is a feature simtimes not found in the more affordable 1080P units. The movement is very fluid for an LCD that is 60Hz with an average response time of 8ms. During extremely fast motion there is a slightly pixelization effect going on and when playing games there is a fraction of a second, I mean a very, very small amount of delay before the screen responds to the command you are giving it. Gran Turismo 5 looked great along with Halo 3 and the detail even in shadowy areas was good. If you are a big fan of audio/visual stuff then you may want to check this tv out closely at the store first. Upclose you can see that there are individual pixels that are green, red, blue which when combined in a small area create the correct colors on the screen, however some people may notice this so please go look at it first before purchasing.
Now the TV is not meant to be a Sony replacement TV. I have a 52" XBR2 that is my primary TV and this does not compare to that, especially in bulid quality. Just looking at the matte black plastic case makes me think cheap and when you touch it the feeling doesn't get any better. It is built to be cheap and all the money was spent on the LCD Panel. The plastic flexes very easily and the stand feels as though it could be snapped in half. The sound is also a sore spot for this TV even with the setting on Dynamic which should increase the Bass response of the TV speakers it is not there. By no means is the TV unwatchable due to the sound just dont expect to get blown away and please do not turn on the SRS Simulation feature built into the TV it only makes the sound harsher.
In conclusion, this TV is wonderful if you are on a budget, or if you are looking for a second TV or something for the Kids playroom. This TV will excel and exceed most expectations in those applications. Please keep in mind that the TV is $880 brand new and most 1080P tvs in this size range are almost twice that so if the TV does have problems out of the box get another one I have one that works and I will post pictures later on today of it working and looking good so just keep trying and you will get one that will accomplish what you are looking for."
